What is OET
The Occupational English Test[OET] is an English test for health12 care professionals who seek to register and practice in an English speaking environment.
12 professions including: Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Radiography, Speech Pathology, Veterinary Science.
OET is designed for healthcare professionals, it simulates real workplace tasks and tests relevant language skills. All test materials are medical oriented and customised according to the profession.
Who recognize OET?
OET is accepted as proof of English language skills by healthcare boards and councils in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore and for all visa categories by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

How many Sub-Tests can I take?
First time Candidates are required to sit all four sub-tests; reading, writing, listening and speaking.
If you are required to re-sit the OET please contact the Regulatory Authority that governs your profession to see if they allow you to sit individual sub-tests, or if all four sub-tests are required in one sitting.
Some professions require Candidates to pass all four sub-tests in one sitting; meaning if you fail one or more sub-tests you are required re-sit all 4 sub-tests in one sitting.
To ensure you’re up-to-date with your individual requirements, please check with the Regulatory Authority that governs your profession.
How much does the OET cost?
For OET fees please refer to the following information:
- AUD $587.00 – To sit all four OET sub-tests, including the online booking fee of AUD $7.00
- AUD $200.50 – To sit one OET sub-test, including the online booking fee of AUD $7.00
- AUD $339.00 – To sit two OET sub-tests, including the online booking fee of AUD $7.00
- AUD $477.50 – To sit three OET sub-tests, including the online booking fee of AUD $7.00
